Tomorrow I will take down the tree and gently pack the strands of vintage beads that I have gathered from flea markets, garage and rummage sales. They glisten and make a “ting, ting” sound when the delicate glass beads meet each other. Some strands are worn and the beads are broken. They will be gently laid in a cardboard box for another years rest.
This year I did not put any of the old mercury ornaments on the tree. A new cat in the household forced me to try something different this year. Just a skinny “pencil” tree with layers of old tree trimming beads. Simple. Elegant. Luscious.
Some of my ornaments went into a copper colored bird cage in the dining room, safe from from the curious cat.
