Fall

Going through some old photos and found this one of my mom and I. The pumpkin is probably the handy work of my dad. He is good at making things. Rigging up gadgets. He collects wood and old nails and screws and keeps them in mason jars in an old shed by the garage. Always had a knack of making something out of nothing. Making due with a home made version of most things.

The apple doesn't fall too far from the tree...

I will be a vendor at the Scarecrow Fest in downtown Ottawa on Saturday. This really is a very nice event and if I'm lucky I will have a spot near the Chili Cook-off Contest! For a small cost you can sample 7 or 8 different chili recipes. Last year my favorite was the alligator chili (yes, I said ALLIGATOR!) with cornbread made by Cajun Ron of Utica. He has a great restaurant and I recommend it if you are traveling through the area.

  1. I love Cajun Connection's red beans and rice, and the seafood gumbo. They used to do a mixed berry bread pudding with amaretto sauce around Valentine's Day but I haven't seen it lately...
